Technical Support Engineer

Position Description: Participate in all engineering aspects of product development in the areas of sports protective equipment, exercise and rehabilitation equipment and mobility aids. We are looking for a motivated self-starter and self-learner who possesses strong customer service, technical problem solving skills, and can work in a fast-paced fluid environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Interpretation of engineering guidelines; coordination of varied activities; performance of engineering drafting and design work; materials acceptance evaluations; provide technical assistance to others; and perform detailed reviews of engineering related projects
  • Provide assistance to customers to solve technical issues and to communicate customer needs and wishes to development and engineering staff
  • Assist with Engineering Department activities including design preparation, tasks requiring machine knowledge, maintenance of engineering records, and other related technical support
  • Follow test setup and test operation protocol to ensure repeatable verification tests
  • Assemble test apparatus from discussions and hand-written drawings from engineers including: mechanical, electrical, fluid flow, thermal, electronic measurements and control systems
  • Data recording and documentation, assist with data reduction, troubleshooting and data presentation to support verification of engineering prototype hardware
  • Assist with failure mode effects analyses (FEMA) following component or system failure
  • Interface with outside shops and suppliers for machined components and purchased hardware
  • Attention to safety issues and danger mitigation; maintain organized lab and shop
  • Participation in design reviews
  • Participate on various company projects as part of one or more team
  • Documentation of issues, solutions, test protocols and results within our QA system

Education and Experience:

  • Prefer BS or MS degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • SolidWorks, MatLab, Office, LabView experience is highly desired
  • 3D CAD, circuit assembly and debugging skills (including use of DAQ, oscilloscopes, etc), use of MatLab software are highly desired
  • Require a high degree of mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Good organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as with others in a team environment
  • Experience with technical writing and preparing formal reports

We are seeking engineering students who will be involved in the design of novel products in the areas of sport injury, mobility aids, as well as exercise and rehabilitation equipment.
