About Us
Simbex – Our Home
Simbex is a privately held Limited Liability Company located in Lebanon, New Hampshire. The company began as a collaboration between founders Richard M. Greenwald and Synergy Innovations, Inc., owned by entrepreneur Robert C. Dean, Jr., who has created nine high-tech companies over the past 40 years in the Upper Valley region in New Hampshire. Drs. Greenwald and Dean recognized a market need for products and services aimed at injury prevention and mobility for older adults and disabled individuals, and combined their expertise to form Simbex. Dr. Dean remains a mentor and close associate of Simbex.

Simbex was formed in 2000 and has operated out of the historic Whitman Communications Building, a converted Great American Wool Company mill building dating from 1867. Simbex has continued to expand its footprint in the Whitman Building to provide space for all of the company's activities: product development, manufacturing, testing labs, and administration.
The company is located in New Hampshire's Upper Valley and maintains a close association with Dartmouth College's Thayer School of Engineering, Dartmouth Medical School and the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. The region boasts a fabulous quality of life for Simbex employees. Dr. Greenwald is an Associate Professor (adjunct) at the Thayer School of Engineering, and Simbex often draws qualified candidates from Thayer School and the Amos Tuck School of Business for internships that allow students to tackle real-life engineering and business challenges.
Simbex – Our Passion
Simbex maintains a robust technology development and systems integration capacity - the core competence is biomechanics. Simbex has earned its reputation as a worldwide leader in the fields of head impact biomechanics, mobility rehabilitation and prosthetics and has built unique solutions by focusing its efforts on its core expertise: biomechanical feedback systems. The path to active life improvement often starts with better information about how the body responds in its current environment. Simbex develops new methods to measure human performance and strategies to utilize those measurements to advance performance or to reduce the risk of injury.
We do more than produce active life products at Simbex. Most of our staff are passionate about the sports and outdoor life that are so much a part of life in New England. Our engineers typically have backgrounds in developing sports performance and safety equipment or are serious participants themselves: avid skiers, riders, cyclists, players of team sports, hunters, hikers and boaters. Our products and research reflect an understanding of performance and protection gained from the experience of participation.
